2022 in photos: from presidential inauguration to ‘Miracle of Doha’

From the inauguration of President Yoon Suk Yeol and the opening to the public of the former presidential compound of Cheong Wa Dae to the “miracle of Doha” in which the national soccer team advanced to the knockout round of the Qatar World Cup, Korea has seen a dynamic 2022.
Korea.net captured these events in its “Korea in photos” series, which posts a new photo every weekday to show the pulse of the country. A combined 247 photos were uploaded from Jan. 3 to Dec. 15, among which 35 were selected by Korea.net photographers and the top 11 were picked by staff writers.

Cherry blossoms on the afternoon of March 28 are in full bloom around Romance Bridge at Yeojwacheon Stream in Jinhae-gu District of Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. With 1.2 km-long lineup of cherry blossom trees alongside it, the stream is a cherry blossom hotspot that attracts numerous tourists in spring. The annual Jinhae Gunhangje (Cherry Blossom) Festival, the nation's biggest event of its kind, was canceled this year due to COVID-19. (Yonhap News)

Cleaning of the statue is usually done every April but was canceled last year due to the renovation of the square, meaning no cleaning for two years and three months.
